Exactly. We have a low era, an extremely low opponents BA, and low HRs

given up. We could just throw strikes and blow all those stats. The first inning will be trying to find the strike zone. Not because the pitchers need warmed up, because they don’t know where the strike zone is. They don’t want to feed the batter pitches down the middle. They want to feed them questionable pitches and keep them (and the umps) guessing. Gotta figure out the umps limit so you can push it when you’re ahead in the count.
