This line of reasoning assumes some discrete criteria is available for a
team to achieve. The reality is it’s a subjective process that compares teams. So it is realistic to point out inconsistencies considering the teams in question had similar “warts”.
Also, since there is objective criteria for seeding and hosting, you really have no idea if any of those victories would have made a difference.
