unless you can sell season tixs in the low 1000s how can you begin to pay for it? one of the sadder things is you cant even get students to support the team for free. to be fair that seems to be everywhere. for whatever reason watching softball mainly seems to be for grandpa/granny and beer swilling guys with massive bellies- neither of which Blacksburg has a ton of. if there are examples of really successful softball programs with Blacksburg weather and geography (not to mention population) , I'm not aware of them. looking at UVa and LSU last couple of weeks- lots more money to build , lots more amenities. Certainly a nicer experience for those who do attend but are that many MORE people coming to games ? My guess is None of these programs , even in the SEC, begin to pay for their selves.
