not a sure thing. They do have an SOS problem. The UCLA series helped them but they are still relatively low. They have 7 remaining regular season games. 3 against a 43 RPI team, 1 against a 94 and 3 against a 178. For an average of a 108 ranking over the 7 games. So, their only chance at a high level opponent would be in the later rounds of the Big Ten tournament. They pretty much have to win out to make the cut. Oregon has a pitcher who has pitched in 37 of their 46 games with a 1.15 ERA and an overall W/L record of 25-1 and 3 saves. And just pitched 11 1/3 scoreless innings against top 10 UCLA. She also pitched a 7-inning 1-hit shutout against FSU earlier in the year. Saw this quote from an article after today's game ... "Grein extended her streak of 28 consecutive shutout innings against top-25 opponents this season." Reminiscent of the dominance of Keely Rochard and, unfortunately for VT, reminds me of the Hendon Hooker situation. Whether or not Virginia Tech makes it or not is up to Virginia Tech.
