We were taught - don't make unnecessary throws. Potential for an error
on an unnecessary throw. However, forcing the other team to make unnecessary/questionable throws can help your team because 1 - the ball must be thrown well and 2 - the ball must be caught well.
We were also taught - hit the ball on the ground. That requires 1- the ball to be fielded well, 2 - the ball to be thrown well, 3 - the ball to be caught well. That's three opportunities for an error on one batted ball. We'll also take all the line drives we can make. Hate a pop up and a can o'corn.
