The invitees include many of those within the industry itself, such as the four power conference commissioners (Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and ACC); American Conference commissioner Tim Pernetti; current athletic directors from Wake Forest, Iowa State and Indiana; former Oklahoma AD Joe Castiglione; Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua and ex-Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick; former coaches Mack Brown, Nick Saban and Urban Meyer; Texas Tech board member Cody Campbell; Heisman winners Tim Tebow and Charlie Ward; university presidents/chancellors Doug Girod (Kansas), Jeff Gold (Nebraska) and Donde Plowman (Tennessee); and former Clemson and West Virginia president Jim Clements.

Ideas on solutions for the primary issue — how to pay college athletics — have even divided those within the industry itself, with arguments ranging from athlete employment to non-employment collective bargaining, from federal antitrust protection to amending the Sports Broadcasting Act so conferences can pool their media rights.
The latter issue — the pooling of media rights — has caused deep rifts, both among college stakeholders themselves and between conferences leaders and external forces, such as Campbell, the Texas Tech billionaire businessman whose “Saving College Sports” campaign urges lawmakers to amend the SBA. The “SCS” campaign argues that consolidating television rights for the 10 FBS conferences — for now, they each negotiate their own deals — is a way to increase revenues to help financially stabilize college sports and level the playing field, potentially closing the gaps between the richest leagues, the SEC and Big Ten, and everyone else.

define consequential? Aside from the four P4 commissioners I am not sure how much weight and perspective the rest of the group might contribute or how the group was actually put together. Yes, guys like Saban, Brown, Meyer, Tebow and Ward contribute name perspective but, their game/landscape perspective is different than where the landscape is presently and where it might be headed. Are 2 people with ND allegiance needed? The Wake Forest AD? I could go on, however, I will leave you with one final question. Why no TV/media execs, the guys paying the bills? We agree on low and guarded expectations. Finally, given the news breaking overnight and this morning, I think there are much more consequential matters that demand full attention.

will be with football and the corresponding money - I think this will be an effort to retain the Olympics, and athletic departments as they have been traditionally known. I have some ideas of what they might do, but that is all pure speculation from a fans perspective.

his motives for wanting to get involved in this issue. If he is primary motivated to find ways for himself and anyone in his inner circle to profit from the situation, then it could suggest he really doesn't care what happens to the ACC, Big XII, or college athletics in general. If I am correct, then it could suggest the narrative has not really changed. At the heart of the issue it was never about competition even if the schools decided that was the core public principle going all the way back to the pre-NCAA organization. Even if the schools think it is about survival, it is really not about that. At the heart of the issue it has always been about which group can exploit the situation for profit. For the longest time the schools had all that power. Now the athletes are starting to wrestle some of that power away from the schools. Well outside parties see the situation ripe for the picking, so they are trying to see what's the most they can snag during this dust storm while everyone is distracted by the various issues.

looking into the anti trust legislation, and with the different steaming deals, they are arguing that it would cost the consume over $1500.00 to have access to all of the games.
Good, bad, or ugly, I think the government is going to get involved.

enhancements Uncle Sam brought to the table could end up being insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Now they could appear to be significant when they first become public, but it doesn't mean they have to stay that way over time.
