This Notre Lame stuff is fascinating.
A smidge of empathy for AD on day one, but ever since then they are getting totally lambasted and for good reason. They should STFU and be grateful for their top 12 protection for the next several years. The memes are hysterical...Rudy being offsides, play like a champ until you don't make CFP and then quit etc. The committee was honest every single week. ND was protected with BYU separating them from Miami. Then BYU got pounded and the head to head with Miami absolutely mattered and it should have, once they were side by side again. No surprise. Entitled, spoiled and whiney brats. I will give it to the ND fans- they play the part well and remain devout.

My question is have the Irish screwed themselves
going forward? If I'm on that committee next year I'm looking for any excuse to rank them below 12 because I'm a vindictive prick, and if I'm the Big 10 or SEC I'd love to devalue their program.

If the CFP goes to 16, then ND will lose that privilege. The CFP needs to
go to 16 anyway.

True. ND will still be at the committee’s mercy.

I kinda wonder if the collective pooh-bahs
of college football will conclude that "the juice ain't worth the squeeze" when it comes to ND.

The top 12 automatic is a joke
Can you imagine in any other NCAA sport where you are automatically in the tournament based on your ranking while every other team is not? Let's say UConn basketball is the 64th ranked team in basketball and they are guaranteed a March Madness bid? More entitlement for the Domers. Im so sick of it. The Commitee was transparent when they said as they get closer head to head would matter the whole time.

I don't really have an issue with the top 12 ranking auto bid.
I'd rather limit the number of conference participants than do away with the ND auto-bid.

Well, the ACC will be benefitted under a new rule too
All four P4 conferences will get a guaranteed spot for their champion. So if the MOU had been in effect this year, Miami might have been out but Duke would definitely have been in.

So ND would have taken Miami's place even though Miami beat them
Because the are the 12th best team? Thats some BS. No matter what happens on the field we are the 12th ranked team so we deserve to be in.
