The new PAC just inked their third
media deal with USA sports. I can't find the dollar figures, but that should be released at some time. The question is: The NFL, the B12, and others have more that one media partner. Will that be better than a conference network moving forward? The BIG also has multiple media partners. Is ESPN faltering?

Disney isn't faltering, they just have all their eggs in one basket.
I expect the next round of ACC media negotiations is going to look a lot more like what the PAC is currently lining up than the SEC. Right now, today, with FSU, Clemson, Miami, etc. still in the conference, 80-90% of ACC content is either on ACCN or streaming only on ESPN+. What's that tell you about how the future bodes? ** Edited by Baltimore_Hokie at 11/18/2025, 3:39:29 PM

All that matters is the $$$ involved
The SEC has one media partner and seems to be doing alright. I do wonder if ESPN could sell off one third-tier SEC game each week to a TNT/CBS/NBC much like they did with the Big 12 and TNT. Could probably command a hefty sum

I agree with that. After all, owning the media rights
gives them the ability to re-sell them if the money is there. The difference with the PAC, is they sold the games piecemeal, as ESPN and FOX, the two premiere college athletic media companies, did not offer them the money they wanted. That, and ESPN has enough content for their properties. The USA sports is intriguing, not because they will be broadcasting PAC games, but because they are putting their toe into the college athletic rights pool. That network is in just about every market, and if they are successful, they could be a player in 2030 when most of the other media deals will be reworked.

USA, TBS, Spike, and several other linear cable networks used to air CFB.
"Power" conference games, too, not G5 dog crap. I think the difference now is that this content is going to end up on and primarily be consumed via the individual streaming services of the entities that own those linear networks - Peacock, Paramount+, Max, etc.

I cant imagine any power conference wanting their games on USA
People laugh at The CW, but it's at least OTA. I have no idea where USA even is on my channel lineup

have you considered who owns USA Network? it's NBC Comcast conglomerate the
same group The broadcasts Notre Dame. whether it's successful or not is yet to be seen. but my point is it's just another big media company that's going to see if they can make money via advertising broadcasting games as opposed to running a lot of rerun TV shows

Comcast is spinning off their cable networks
USA, E!, MSNOW(formerly MSNBC), CNBC, Golf Channel, SyFy, and Oxygen wii all part be of the new company. Any sports media rights that NBC had will remain with NBC while any new media rights that USA Sports buys will be the property of Versant. However, there are some media rights that are currently shared by Comcast and Versant, and those will remain shared. Those include NASCAR, WNBA, the Olympics, and USGA events.

NBC sports Network which just launched appears to
be building out linier channels in addition to their steaming platform, Peacock. Fox, CBS, and of course Disney all have dedicated sports channels on cable, and as we just learned with the YouTube Disney entanglement, content is king for now. NBC owns rights to some NBS, Premier soccer, MLB, WNBA, and the Olympics. College football and basketball seems like a no brainer for them to start adding.

I agree with that as well. Just about any channel
can be reconfigured to broadcast games. The question will be if they can command carriage fees more than they do now, which can't be much I would think. BTW, there are reports that the PAC is in negotiations with ESPN+ for baseball, and the rest of their inventory that the rights have not been purchased. It's like they sold the rights a game at a time. There is still inventory of Woman's basketball, some men's basketball, and all of their Olympics. We know that they will not command a lot of money, but having bids on your inventory may be the way to go in the future.

You or I could buy the media rights to the Pac-12's WBB or Olympic sports

ESPN only cares about one conference, and it isn't our conference.

This should be announced on a loudspeaker at ACC HQ 24/7.
Maybe then, the pencil neck dweebs running this joker conference could get it through their thick skulls.
