I’d go along with this, with one change…..
Exchange Maryland for Miami. Nine game conference schedule. Only conf champs go to playoffs. 1st round byes for top 2 ranked teams.

If everything is fair game for major shifts and a goal of 10 team conferences, then this is what I would do with the P5 teams + ND. For football only.
New Big East would maximize it's region and get some solid rivalries, plus a trip to Nashville for fun.
New ACC would go heavy into Florida.
New SWC would give A&M their own conference separate from Texas.
New PAC elevates Boise and SDSU.
New left over takes BC and Wake, while keeping Army and Navy together.

the old BE that lumps us with Pitt, Cuse, BC, Rutgers, no thanks. A realignment that puts playing predominately in the NE is not good for the program.

Otherwise, non-conference games would be near worthless. 14 champs. Two at large. No byes. Would be must watch TV.

There are probably a few other switches I would make too.

shouldn't be a factor. If you want to make it a factor, then VT, FSU, So. Miss, Tulane, and few others should be in the Metro, UConn, Georgetown, and Villanova should be in the Big East, and there should be 3 Indies (Army, Navy, and ND).
