Has anyone done back of the envelope estimate on how much this may cost
VT with 560 athletes or so?

Rosters will be cut and some sports too IMHO, but I hope not. Athletes
lead the country way more than valedictorians, so the more college the athletes the better IMHO.

One of the Legal Bureaucrats Representing the Players Said Cutting Sports
as I way to trim monetary losses would attempt to be regulated in upcoming court decisions. I have quit reading those Linked Articles on this board on that subject. I tired of reading all those threats by those lawsuit wild player's attorneys. However I read about three of those long articles. One said that about disallowing cutting sports. Most sports do lose money. Football makes the big money. Basketball & baseball surely support themselves on the P4 scale. Maybe not baseball in the B1G. However the rest all just lose money for a college that carries them. As these expenditures mount in these abounding player's lawsuits. One could see all the P4 conferences cutting all men's sports but those Three. Then pairing those three with three women's sports to avoid Title IX litigation. Those six sports would be the whole shebang. Can the requirement for more sports be litigated as that lawsuit happy Player's attorney implied? I don't know. However when we get to that stage.Bankruptcy is probably just around the corner.

I get the impression the players are going after
coaching salaries.

Good place to start.

If they want a salary cap on players, it works for coaches as well.

Coaches are going to be unionized too?
Price fixing is illegal (which setting a salary cap is) except if there is a collective bargaining agreement in place. In order to have a CBA, a union will need to be in place. Same for the athletes.

It wasn't a serious post, but you got my point.

Based on $30,000 per year, per athlete, using numbers from 2022-'23

what is funny is most of the parents around here
would gladly PAY $30k EXTRA to have their kids be able to compete on the LAX or swimming or golf teams .

Many already do it for their kids playing Club Sports.

Hollywood actors/actresses were paying the USC rowing coach 6 figures
just to say that he was recruiting their kids so that admissions would admit them. Those same parents could have just donated that money to the school and no one would have batted an eye when they were accepted.

Yeah Stanford similar things going on, I am sure it was happening all over.

Wouldn't that have required more coin?

That Texas number is kind of shocking
I would have thought that they would have a lot more sports based on their revenue numbers. They really do less with more.

Way more than we will ever have!

Kinda looks that way

Does that mean VT should just pack things in and turn out the lights?
V

Yes
That also applies to all but a dozen hot **** schools

Just read an opinion article that says just that. Yahoo news. About U Md.
I don’t have an answer but when it becomes crunch time it will be obvious I guess. May take years. Due to law suits. I am very dismayed.
