It started with one of those very respected sports talking heads saying back then that the SEC wanted North Carolina & Virginia. I know several here don't like this view. Nobody knows how this is going to play out? All now very quiet on the expansion front the last several weeks as some already documented changes do take place on July 1. I think as that date passes as summer moves to a climax, things may become somewhat clearer. Clearer with big chips moving or dead silence in the future as the recent past. That silence will probably mean a long haul ahead for any real moves in the ACC and will render all those YouTube ACC imminent doomsayers as useless as tits on a bull at least in the near term. I think Sankey & Petitti apparently chumming up muddies the water a lot more on future expansion than about anything else. Sankey is from New York. Hard to get less southern in origin. Those two northerners hammer out a deal on carving up the ACC. Who know who will go where?? I think you hear the above article based on the past. Sankey did bring Texas & Oklahoma into the SEC when shunning them would have definitely put them both in the B1G. Sankey even publicly said that. Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas & South Carolina all fit with North Carolina & Virginia. The Aggie do not. However Mike Slive took Texas A&M to give the SEC a foot in door in the huge state of Texas. Slive's move has paid off with the SEC getting Texas which was the main target from the start. Texas had flirted with the PAC for over 30 years, very publicly that last few years of that 30. Texas would have took Oklahoma & Texas Tech with them going west. It that move had just been finalized, how different things in the college football world would now be.

NCSt in realignment plans when they discuss UNC and UVa. That to me is the lynch pin of this whole thing. But I am just speculating like everyone else

if football is driving the conference expansion bus then anyone selecting UNC and/or UVA are selecting the clearcut #2s in football in those states. Both have good to great overall athletic programs but, they are either zeros(UVA) or declining(UNC) to zero in football. Selecting those schools is akin to taking BC and Syracuse for TV sets while ignoring the fact they would not contribute much to the ACC's football problem. For the SEC it is akin to adding two more Vandy's with slightly better hoops. For the B1G likely adding a few more Marylands or Indianas.

Something will happen, FSU and Clemson have already made that step. What that is remains to be seen.
