Rutgers @ USC Fri Night kickoff at 11 p.m. ET
So much for the good of the student athletes, huh? Not to mention the Rutgers fans, who will see the clock strike midnight early in the second quarter of one of their most anticipated matchups of the year. I believe the current composition of the Big Ten is ridiculous and unsustainable long term, and that something akin to the Super League we saw floated earlier this year will be the answer in eight or so years to correct this mess that the chancellors, conference commissioners and TV executives have created through sheer greed and flagrant disregard for the sport. Michigan and Ohio State could play in a 10-team Big Ten identical to its 1992 composition, schedule three power conference teams OOC each year and probably have a schedule that is just as appealing to the networks. Not to mention they could stop splitting equal shares with Northwestern and Minnesota and make even more than they do now. And don't even get me started on travel for basketball/non-revenue sports.

Nobody involved cares about the good of the student athlete. Reasoning is
they’ll be able to pull 1-2 million viewers for a time slot that’s typically infomercials.

Right, but you could do that with USC/ASU or USC/Utah

"current composition of the Big Ten is ridiculous." but you think the
Super League will "correct this mess." Uh huh. Well there will not be a Super League any time soon, so get ready for more ridiculousness. The B1G will continue to expand as long as Fox and the advertisers encourage them to do so. They are being cautious with the Friday night programming; maybe just testing the response. But they have eighteen teams and TV windows are limited.

Yes, the super league would correct the mess...
...returning to regional rivalries and replacing the 3-4 body bag games per year with OOC games vs other power conference teams would be a net-positive for the networks and the biggest brands (with unequal revenue sharing) IMO. Would be a tough, tough break for half the Big Ten, Vandy and Mississippi State, though.

Let me be clear. Friday nights are for HIGH SCHOOL football.
Play Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday. But I've always hated the greedy trend of playing college games on Friday Night. That's for community and the next generation.

Probably the only time for ACC primetime games before all’s said & done.

The conference leaders are going to alienate the bad teams to the point they want to leave. At most, a 8pm EST start should be the rule for west coast games.

You Are Right
The SEC officiating is always bad. I remember the recent Arkansas & Kentucky baseball series. The BBN (Big Blue Nation) as Kentucky basketball fans like to refer themselves. Has been all over every Calipari related Tweet or YouTube video in mass. Predicting early NCAA Tournament exits, unexpected home court losses to pitiful opponents. Just doom & gloom predictions galore. I went lightly at a few of them . Talking about Pope never winning an NCAA Tournament Game. I also had a little pic for them, I will post below. However I do not like internet arguing and I soon became very turned off with them after a week or so. I just stopped reading comments under Calipari vids or Tweets. Calipari did get a highly recruited big man in the transfer portal from Tennessee. However the next two big men that Calipari went after went respectively went to Kentucky & Louisville, somewhat stolen in the last moments. Big men are the prize in college basketball. Nolan Richardson had three when he won the natty. They know Calipari stacking up big men would be potential natty material. Calipari took the old Louisville basketball coach as an assistant. You see who is taking his big men. Anyway back to baseball with Kentucky & Arkansas with the SEC umps. I just watched one of those games. I get too exited about the junk as I will say next to watch many of those games. That ump behind the plate had two different strike zones for Arkansas & Kentucky. The Kentucky pitcher just needed the ball near the corner of the plate to get a strike call while the Arkansas pitcher needed to throw the ball right down the middle of the plate. Use to watch a lot of baseball. Never saw such a blatant job of bad umping. Getting that after all that Kentucky trash about Calipari. That fan base wanted Calipari gone when Arkansas hired him. You can punch up BBN YouTubers all calling for Calipari's firing after the NCAA Tournament. That is SEC officiating for Arkansas.I have seen TD's called back due to penalty on the bad Arkansas football team until it is expected. Those TD's called back have decided a couple of those games. My point is the officiating can always get worse. It could get so bad a school fan base would demand leaving a conference. The way this revenue sharing is going. Revenue sharing could also cause conference exiting by schools on the back burner in the P2's. ** Edited by WarHog38 at 5/23/2024, 3:43:32 AM

Or they'll implement unequal revenue sharing...
...and at that point, why is USC sharing a conference with Rutgers and Maryland instead of Arizona and Utah? I really think the big blood programs could make more money in a super league, greatly alleviate logistical issues and reignite actual rivalries that generate interest from rabid and causal fans alike. No one wants to see USC play Purdue or Utah play UCF. It's gotten quite silly.

They have to find their wins somewhere. If it's always
a blue blood playing a blue blood, that average record will be 5-5. A lot of fans will not tolerate that.
