Have to wonder if maybe there are plans to add another couple
of Western schools or another Texas school (or maybe Tulane in LA) just to get some sort of west/central pod. To give travel partners to those newly admitted. OSU and WSU might be all that is left to grab!

Add these 7 teams and then break into 4 divisions
Add Oregon St., Washington St., Sandiego St., Boise St., BYU, ECU and West VA. Have 4 divisions, North, South, East and West. Each team plays the 5 other teams in their division and 1 crossover from each of the three other divisions yearly. The divisions would look like this: North Division BYU, Pitt, BC, Syracuse, West VA and Louisville East Division VT, UVA, Duke, NC State, ECU and Clemson South Division FSU, Miami, GT, UNC, Wake and SMU West Division Stanford, Cal, Oregon St., Washington St., San Diego St. and Boise St. The highest ranked of the North and South Division plays the highest ranked of the East and West division for the conference championship. For sports other than football, consider similar geographical schedules. The ACC could then be the All Country Conference.

The big deal is the rights
Smu stanford and cal could afford likited rights for 9 years Simply oregon state and wash state could not And that what happens over 10 years oregon st and wash st did not build a huge independent resouces fo operate with pac 12 momey - oregon wash usc and ucla also even stanford and cal could. Utah co and arizona schhols saw the tea leaves and jumped quicky At this time vt needs fo even ratchef up more $dollars& for endowmt to not just sustain but sucesd. Alsmost as an ad budget should assume acc dollars are extra and assume run independently That also means being agressive

Why SMU over Oregon State? Just the ACCN subs in TX? Or other good reason?
Since this is solely and only a money grab by the ACC, I get that the ACCN in Texas probably will justify the SMU invitation. Probably. I'm curious though to see the numbers on projections of new ACCN subscribers in Oregon if Oregon State would have been invited instead. Better travel partners for Cal & Stanford, already a P5 school, renovated stadium, equal or better national image than SMU. Lots of pros, and likely some cons as well. The main positive for SMU? Simply their location in Texas IMO. Nothing else. PS - Not the same thought for Washington State at all. They should not have ever been a P5 school, and will fit in perfectly in either the Mtn West or the Big Sky.

Would Oregon State be able to give up tv money for 9 years like SMU?**

Doubtful, but I don't know. Mtn. West is currently paying $4M per school.
Oregon State is looking at a big fat $0 after next year. Maybe they would have come in for $4M per year, or something close to their next best offer. The ACC would have given up some revenue, but received a better brand.
