And the Big Ten doesn't look interested either, so I guess it's up to the ACC to vet these choices and make plans one way or another. And Stanford and Cal are looking at the ACC or a G5 league. It's looking like a real possibility that the ACC ends up with Cal/Stanford. That means we'll have the same issue as the Big Ten with a west coast island. We may need to also add stuff in the middle time zones to at least look organized. Given the ACC's past history I'd expect us to add these alone and then study the possibility of adding in Texas somehow to bridge the geographic gap.

It may make sense for Cal and Stanford to reach out to the B1G and see if they can form a pod with usc and ucla . If that works out maybe asu Arizona Utah and Colorado from the Big12 would be interested in forming an even bigger pod. Then I thinking the 4 schools from the pacific northwest could make it a 12 school geographic sensible pod. I think that is logically where all this is headed. Maybe the called the pod something to do with "Pacific"?

As is mentioned in another thread, the CA market for the ACCN would be a big deal.
I know there are some that want ND, USC, Texas, and Ohio State to come calling, but I thought the point was to find ways to be competitive in the revenue department.
Cal and stanford are good gets for any conference, and I'd be willing to bet that given the recent circumstances, those programs will get stronger, and fast.

True with the old model with cable viewers...
but it seems the TV executives are more concerned about fan viewership now since streaming will eventually replace cable and satellite TV. What kind of ratings does SMU and Cal/Stanford get? Northern California has college football fans like New England.

Cal and Stanford both have more tech-leaning grads, many of whom work for the streamers... so I am sure watching a game on AppleTV or Netflix isn't a big deal for them. So, getting them in the fold may not be a bad thing, as the push to steam continues. And, as people have said, ESPN / Disney are looking for ways to generate revenue. If Apple or Netflix or the CW come to them with a mutually beneficial offer... I am sure the ACC would vote yes on it.
My only wish is that this were just for football. Pinto is right about the fact that football needs to split off.
