Per post on another board West Virginia Governor suing NCAA over selection
or should I say the lack of being selected. I do find it interesting he goes after UNC and not the SEC teams without winning conference records and other flaws since there are 14 of them. I just thought with our diverse fan base here it would be an interesting topic to discuss. Is this just another case of schools being scared of the overwhelming SEC POWER!?!? PS I get the case against UNC, but they certainly aren’t the only one you could make a case they didn’t deserve it or could this just be the foreshadowing of them ripping the ACC apart and they and the SEC knowing they are going to the SEC sooner rather than later!?!?

A significant portion of the population of his state...
...live in abject poverty, and he wastes his time and taxpayers' money on ~this~?

If their University makes to the NCAA it helps them promote the state, and
would cost them millions to get that kind of PR. At least by fighting it, the news about them is being reported. They have to do something to stand out, granted they would have gotten more and better being in the tournament.

Yes we were screwed
It just looks suspicious that Bubba Cunningham is the chair and receives $100K+ bonus for Carolina's selection. The main reason the committee used for our exclusion was Tucker DeVries' injury. He's been out since December. Although this is not our best team we were on all 111 metrics that predicted this year's teams. It's probably moot because Coach DeVries looks like he may be the next coach at Indiana. You could just as easily argue that Texas and Xavier (among others) also didn't deserve to get in. Oh well someone always gets screwed. I guess it was our turn. ** Edited by Millpoint at 3/18/2025, 2:43:07 PM ** Edited by Millpoint at 3/18/2025, 2:45:50 PM ** Edited by Millpoint at 3/18/2025, 2:46:20 PM

You lost to the Buffs
You gave them an excuse to leave you out.

That's not how it works. Losing a completely meaningless game when your
coach is leaving doesn't mean you didn't have an argument to be in the tourney. ** Edited by reestuart at 3/21/2025, 2:14:06 PM

DeVries officially now to IU
Paying WVU more than $6M to get him.

UNC deserves it. Texas is who stole your spot
Look at the Texas schedule. It’s pathetic. And they ended up 6-12 in conference. They should not even be close to the bubble teams. UNC is getting all the attention, but Texas and the SEC is the problem here. And that’s where WVU fans should be looking. IMHO

Yeah, Texas didn't belong anywhere near the tournament. UNC/WVU is
a tossup. It's the bottom of the barrel, so the name will always get the edge.

Agree on $EC and Texas
But respectfully disagree about Carolina. Other than UCLA early on, they beat no one this year. ** Edited by Millpoint at 3/18/2025, 7:36:33 PM

I think most selections at the end are debatable but not this one!
Even when we were left out under Greenberg, you could debate either side most years. I have no idea how UNC got in over WVU if NET wins are a consideration as they say they are important, I don't see any debate at all. The only way UNC and others should have got in over WVU is if they came out and say, we are not looking at Quad 1 wins this year. I think it is worth suing here, they might actually have a case.

R U saying NCAA selection committee is so corrupt, that they consider that?
If so, to put it in Frank Beamer type words, "eventually that integrity will get after you now!" Maybe not right away, but over time like a sculpture each chip begins to reveal what is happening here and eventually there is a reaction that may just do the exact opposite of their intent. It's a very slippery slope.

I hadn't considered the back-room unc sec connection...
there's also a fair amount of money trading hands just to get into the tourney....As another said, likely a feel-good voter action as there isn't much time for actions...And if if an injunction did occur and play-paused, the world would kinda hate WV.
