For the ACC, the plan is simple
How many teams will survive. 50. 64. The ACC has a simple plan 1. Do anything to get ND. Even offer Navy 2. Get the programs with the highest media value from Pac 10. Big 12, or G5

No benefit to adding anyone but ND

ACC is at an impasse - current ESPN TV contract Kills expansion potential.
ACC has very little to offer to potential expansion candidate schools due to the disastrous TV contract with ESPN. As of now, ESPN has no Incentive or interest to renegotiate, given the financial terms which are lopsidedly rewarding to ESPN. ACC needs ND To express interest in joining to bring ESPN to the negotiation table. In the meantime, ACC doesn’t have much to offer ND. Typical chicken/egg situation. For ACC, courting ND is a Hail Mary attempt for survival. Long shot at best. Without substantial upgrade In TV/media contract, ACC puts its members in severe Financial disadvantage. Within the decade, if not sooner, ACC would become a de facto mid-majors Football conference even if it manages to keep the membership intact. ACC needs TV/media money to survive, lot of it. PSsssst - Amazon & Apple have several hundred billions of cash..... ** Edited by NoHuddle at 7/10/2022, 12:19:21 PM

ND only gets $15-16M from NBC
ESPN can and should be able to outbid either NBC or even Fox. The ACC’s best revenue year was with ND as a temporary member. The ACC with ESPN should try to create the first super conference by adding ND, USNA, UW, O, Cal, Stanford, Kansas, OSU, WVU. The alternative could be something like the BEFC.

All those schools except ND add nothing financially and will dilute
Payments to VT. No way. Pass.

Stanford Oregon and wash surely add value on their own
They take away funds for travel, yes, but that is the whole west coast tv being added. to get Norte dame in, those three would def be worth it. Notre dame already plays Stanford every year, so that gets us to 6 Norte dame games each year. Work some deal with nd from there, even it is just six games and access to our championship game. I think they might do that (and continue to claim independence). As I understand it, our problem is really that we need to force a look in on our tv contract, which, even without adding teams would give us a bunch more money. 9 million per team undervalued is a figure I read recently. So more nd plus those three new states should trigger a look in plus push us up even more. ** Edited by Truthahn at 7/10/2022, 4:46:59 PM

This looks like the best option for now.
I think that to get Stanford, we'd also need to bring in Cal-Berkeley. I would think that they are a pair. Then we'd have a grouping of 4 out west. I do think picking up all of the West Coast states would add value to our television contract. We wouldn't have Los Angeles, but we'd have the Bay area, Seattle area, and the Portland area. We would have a California presence and should get the subscriber rates for in-state across the State of California for our ACCN. This is a lot.

It looks like a great option to me.
With 6 Notre dame/pacc games, I believe we could get nd to agree to let us treat those as acc games. We could also give nd access to our title game, based on conference and overall win percentage. That effectively gets nd into the football conference, while allowing them to claim independence still. It does not even cost nd any additional acc games. Plus it solves the problems Louisville, gt, fsu, and Clemson have working nd into their schedules. I’d also love playing those three. Hopefully they agree to do it without cal, tho.

If ND says their requirement is we also
bring in Stanford, do you move to 16 if you are in charge?

Entirely predictable. And if he/Oregon are desperate then we are doomed
