When Notre Dame was accepted in the ACC for all sports but football...

The first thing that came to my mind was that it was an act of desperation on the ACC's part. Notre Dame had all the leverage in those negotiations. To their credit, they got exactly what they wanted and the ACC got five football games and upper mid-tier to lower upper tier Olympic sports programs. Notre Dame basketball and Olympic sports won't be missed if they leave the ACC. Some will miss those five football games but all the ACC has to do is have five football programs schedule Top 10-15 type out-of-conference teams every year and make sure two or three of them are played at the ACC team's home field annually. Schedule Bama, Auburn, LSU, Texas, TAMU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, and Oregon. Nebraska, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Penn State will do too. The ACC already has Florida v. FSU. ESPN will gladly set up "big" games between the ACC, SEC, Big 12 and Pac-12.

I think the ACC is better off without Notre Dame, this 1/2 arse agreement
Stech 08/12/22 04:32 PM ET

The ACC needs better football rivalries and 9 conference games
hokieZ71 08/12/22 08:05 PM ET
Add a 9th ACC game and make the ND games count in the ACC standings
cburgroop 08/13/22 08:12 AM ET
I'd normally have no interest in Louisville vs. Cincinnati, BUT
Maroon Baboon 08/13/22 02:12 AM ET
UL's rivals outside UK are Cincinnati and Memphis

Maybe I'm showing my age, but I always loved watching the rivalries

You nailed the scheduling part, the neutral game sites have been SEC sites
Stech 08/12/22 07:45 PM ET
totally disagree! If nothing else it is a hellofva good OOC game.. It is

Give me Miami Virginia Tech over an occasional Notre Dame game, it'd be
Stech 08/12/22 05:45 PM ET
Will not argue with Miami (damn) or desire to play ND more. Don't leave
VTNSC 08/12/22 06:57 PM ET
Hard to believe Miami chickened out on us.**
EDGEMAN 08/12/22 06:57 PM ET
Good. I'll have no sympathy for UM when we get an SEC invite and they don't
Maroon Baboon 08/12/22 09:31 PM ET
Agreed. ND is a much more interesting game than 90% of P5 schools
HokieAl 08/12/22 05:28 PM ET
Covid wiped out the game
WarHog38 08/12/22 10:04 PM ET
It's a fun game, but we don't play them again for 5 years!! That's to long!
Stech 08/12/22 05:49 PM ET
That's if they are still affiliated with the ACC.
EDGEMAN 08/12/22 06:29 PM ET
Agreed, nothing is a given these days.**
Stech 08/12/22 07:39 PM ET
saw an article that ESPN may jump n the bidding for them against NBC and
VTNSC 08/12/22 06:54 PM ET
Now that would be a big turn of events!**
