I really enjoy having Notre Dame on the football schedule

every now and then. It's a nice change of pace and allows Tech to have visibility on a different network (NBC when we're the visiting team). I think it behooves both the ACC and ND to have a chat, air their grievances and come up with a resolution. To me, it seems silly to blow up the relationship. Let's think practically and leave emotions at the door. If they can't resolve it, then oh well. The way things are going, college football as we know it will look drastically different in another decade anyway, so this kerfuffle would be nothing in comparison. I don't think the ACC was wrong for advocating for its full member in Miami. I can recall how conspicuously quiet Jim Phillips was when undefeated FSU was left out in favor of Alabama (again), so I guess this was his chance to make up for that? However, I don't think their argument was the proper one. The ACC should have been pushing that Alabama did not belong in the playoff: 1. they lost to a garbage FSU team whereas Miami and ND's losses were much less egregious and 2. this avoids the Notre Dame/Miami dichotomy. I think this gives the ACC and Notre Dame the perfect chance to put everything out on the table and discuss it all. With every relationship, there are points of contention and the longer they fester the bigger the potential infection. For example, I was not at all a fan of the 12-year home-and-home football series ND and Clemson scheduled outside of the ACC/ND football agreement. Sure, if that contract had no impact on the larger ACC/ND scheduling partnership, then no worries. However, my understanding is that this contract will result in other ACC schools having fewer matchups with the Irish. That should be revisited if true. I really hope they end up working through these bumps so that both parties benefit as a result. ** Edited by RVAHokie05 at 12/8/2025, 12:20:45 PM

Looks like we are pushing a material breach angle in the contract.

LOL. ND isn't a football member. I doubt any of this really applies.
