If your assessment accurately reflects ND's POV, then so be it.
You make cryptic references to other circumstances having rendered the relationship untenable. Despite all of that, I say, again, that a practical resolution could be had as long as both parties check their emotions and egos at the door to focus on a pragmatic result for everyone. It seems that not everyone is willing to do that, and it coincides quite conveniently with the new agreement where ND gets into the playoff as long as they are in the top 12 of the committee rankings.
Since the ACC now has unequal revenue allocations, Virginia Tech has the chance to earn a bigger piece of the pie based on performance on the field and in the TV ratings. Given our new coaching staff, budget commitments and overall excitement surrounding the program, I'm very excited for the Hokies to EARN this additional attention and revenue. If dealing with more Notre Dame drama queen behavior is an unintended result of the ACC/ND agreement, then I'm fine with them no longer being on the football schedule or with us competing against them in the non-revs. I wish Notre Dame luck in negotiating a more advantageous agreement with another conference.
