ESPN and CBS (Paramount+) have been fiercely competing over soccer
These World Soccer Leagues have to have cost that hits the ESPN+ bottom line too. ESPN signed up La Liga and Bundesliga. CBS signed up Serie A, Brasileiro Série A, and Argentine Primera Division. All of this was prompted by NBC's success with English Premier League. Ligue 1 is still on BeIN Sports for now.
After gobbling up half a dozen of the top soccer leagues in the world, I wonder if they are making money on them.
