Why do we care if VT gets picked up by a Tier 1 conference?

VT ChemE 1986

VT is under no financial threat right now and it has guaranteed incoming revenue for the next 14 years. The only issue is whether VT will remain "competitive" in football. Frankly, I think that ship already sailed. In addition, why would be we want to play that "game" anyway? Do the majority of you really want VT to play in a semi-pro league, where it is all about money all of the time? Do we really want to see our athletes get million $ NIL deals? I propose we stay and be happy in the middle tier.
