All depends on how the contract negotiations are playing out and how much

wiggle room both sides have remaining at the table. If the Big Ten is able to add UVA, Duke, UNC, and 1 more basketball blue blood, then the increase in the payout could be worth the headache. Ultimately the conference would have to decide if the juice is worth the squeeze or not. Depending on what direction the conference thinks things are heading in, it could lead to some head scratching decisions made by the P2s. Particularly if breaking away is still on the table and the P2s need make sure they have enough participating schools for all the sports they currently sponsor before the divorce can take place.

The wording is very specific. They can still raid other conferences

I won't be so sure. We haven't seen the final language but it was reported
RandomAsianGuy 07/30/26 12:12 PM ET
If that actually makes it into the bill, then I’ll believe it
HokieAl 07/30/26 12:21 PM ET
I don't think the SEC wants to add more than two. As I said many times
RandomAsianGuy 07/30/26 12:32 PM ET
No one here is following it obviously **

For ACC & XII fans this is a ho-hum event. Not so for P2.

If the bill heads to the floor for a vote and the P2s don't "unleash
VTHokie2000 07/29/26 03:59 PM ET
The P2 are buying time and hoping to negotiate this bill out of existence.

Honestly, I am not sure the bill has enough votes to pass on either floor.
