They could still decide to do their own thing and remain apart of the NCAA.
All they would have to do is announce they are forming a brand new division level within the NCAA. Even if they do leave the NCAA, I can almost guarantee you that the new association will look similar to how the NCAA is currently structured. Even the various pro leagues have a similar structure as the NCAA. Why re-invent the wheel if a blueprint already exists?
