Nebraska did own the recruiting in part (I think) because Osborne took

advantage of the rules and basically stockpiled walk-ons. I think the joke at one time was the reason Nebraska was so great is because they had 85 scholarship players and 200 walk-ons on the roster each year. Hence why the reason(s) Nebraska has faded away in football fascinates me. Particularly since the debate on the primary reason why Nebraska has lost its edge centers around whether the Big Ten took away their advantage vs. Nebraska was no longer allowed to stockpile its roster. If the Big Ten is truly the main factor, then it leads to me the question about Kansas basketball. Particularly when you consider Kansas was basically a staple #1 or #2 seed in the NCAAT during the Big 8 and pre-P2 Big XII days. If college basketball is following a similar behavior as football where everything is shifting to a P2 world, then how likely will Kansas continue earning #1 or #2 seeds in future tournaments as a Big XII member even if Self's replacement is the same caliber as Roy? If the Committee starts to only give 2 of the 8 seeds to non-P2 schools, then Kansas' new reality is the best seed they could hope for most years is a #3 or #4 seed when you consider Kansas is competing against UConn, Duke, and UNC for those spots every year. I'm not sure how well that would sit with Kansas fans given the Jayhawks are considered a blueblood basketball program.
