Championship games make little sense at this point.

So much goes into putting on a football game, and so much recovery is needed after the game, that if the playoff is becoming the end all, be all of the football season, there’s just no sense in conference title games. Unless they are made part of the playoff, like the NFL, which they absolutely will not in college. College football has an identity crisis. It can’t figure out if it wants to be the NFL or be what it always was. I think the worst thing it can do is try to settle in some middle ground like where it finds itself now.

Will increase parity within each “level” and decrease it between levels**

You all laughed when I recommended that an undefeated ACC team should opt
PadrosWindup 01/20/25 12:46 PM ET
If a team opts out, they should be disqualified from the CFP.**
reestuart 01/20/25 01:59 PM ET
Who laughed at that? TIA, I don’t remember people laughing, but I do
Stech 01/20/25 12:55 PM ET
I’m impressed that they are trying to be creative. BUT

IMHO he is trying to end CCG’s and expand to 16 team playoff. He doesn’t

SECCG didn’t do UGA any favors….**
hokieZ71 01/20/25 03:46 PM ET
Agreed they lost their QB, but they still got in the Playoff. P2 want CCG’s

Championship games make little sense at this point.
hokieZ71 01/20/25 04:20 PM ET
I agree the CCG is outdated, but the SEC & B1G will fight for them, it’s $$
Stech 01/20/25 05:05 PM ET
Sounds a little desperate
1947Sunbowl 01/20/25 08:29 AM ET
That is because the ACC "is" desperate. **
wwhokie1 01/22/25 11:52 AM ET
That model would work well if the ACC is guaranteed two spots
RandomAsianGuy 01/20/25 12:00 AM ET
If the FBS Playoffs guarantees spots to only some of the 10 FBS conferences
VTHokie2000 01/20/25 06:32 AM ET
Not hard to circumvent.
RandomAsianGuy 01/20/25 01:51 PM ET
That's not just like now. Now it's the top ranked conference champions.
wwhokie1 01/20/25 07:47 PM ET
Except the P2 conferences and networks won't go for that because they won't
VTHokie2000 01/20/25 02:01 PM ET
Well
RandomAsianGuy 01/20/25 02:15 PM ET
The P2 conferences can try to circumvent antitrust laws, but it doesn't
VTHokie2000 01/20/25 02:58 PM ET
So, you are saying the antitrust may not deter the P2?
RandomAsianGuy 01/20/25 03:10 PM ET
Not from trying, but it doesn’t mean they’ll ultimately keep it, the courts
Stech 01/20/25 03:57 PM ET
Exactly. In this case the end is all that matters.**

Honestly, I am encouraged that he’s reaching for innovative solutions

IMHO, he’s worried about losing his job, if only 1 ACC team makes PO, fired

There are only a limited number of answers to your question
HokieAl 01/20/25 11:21 AM ET
He’s a Notre Dame homer, but he’s not dumb. I think he’s trying to kill CCG
