He’s a Notre Dame homer, but he’s not dumb. I think he’s trying to kill CCG

and get to 16 as fast as possible. Remember psychologist tell us that 95% of our thoughts are about ourselves and most of them are about survival. My educated guess is he is trying to save his job by getting as many ACC teams in the playoff as possible. The ACC was lucky to get two, but Penn State handling SMU was bad for the next playoff selection. So this absurd proposal is likely to try to kill CCG’s and expand to 16. That way the CCG will not play you out of the playoff. However, you have to make up the money for the CCG. Do that by doing week 0 rivalry games. There will be more games, and therefore more money. Oklahoma Nebraska, Virginia Tech West Virginia, Kansas Missouri, UVA UMd and maybe even move games like Florida Florida State, so Thanksgiving weekend is a Conference Game that could have an effect on the playoff, like Alabama Auburn and Michigan and Ohio State. In other words, rivalry games inside the conference.

ACC considering 2vs3 in ACC Champ 🏈 game! Good grief drop it & play week 0

One serious issue with that is that unless the #2 team...

Will increase parity within each “level” and decrease it between levels**
El Hokie 01/20/25 05:44 PM ET
You all laughed when I recommended that an undefeated ACC team should opt
PadrosWindup 01/20/25 12:46 PM ET
If a team opts out, they should be disqualified from the CFP.**
reestuart 01/20/25 01:59 PM ET
Who laughed at that? TIA, I don’t remember people laughing, but I do
Stech 01/20/25 12:55 PM ET
I’m impressed that they are trying to be creative. BUT
HokieAl 01/20/25 11:14 AM ET
IMHO he is trying to end CCG’s and expand to 16 team playoff. He doesn’t

SECCG didn’t do UGA any favors….**
hokieZ71 01/20/25 03:46 PM ET
Agreed they lost their QB, but they still got in the Playoff. P2 want CCG’s
Stech 01/20/25 03:53 PM ET
Championship games make little sense at this point.
hokieZ71 01/20/25 04:20 PM ET
I agree the CCG is outdated, but the SEC & B1G will fight for them, it’s $$
Stech 01/20/25 05:05 PM ET
Sounds a little desperate
1947Sunbowl 01/20/25 08:29 AM ET
That is because the ACC "is" desperate. **
wwhokie1 01/22/25 11:52 AM ET
That model would work well if the ACC is guaranteed two spots
RandomAsianGuy 01/20/25 12:00 AM ET
If the FBS Playoffs guarantees spots to only some of the 10 FBS conferences
VTHokie2000 01/20/25 06:32 AM ET
Not hard to circumvent.
RandomAsianGuy 01/20/25 01:51 PM ET
That's not just like now. Now it's the top ranked conference champions.
wwhokie1 01/20/25 07:47 PM ET
Except the P2 conferences and networks won't go for that because they won't
VTHokie2000 01/20/25 02:01 PM ET
Well
RandomAsianGuy 01/20/25 02:15 PM ET
The P2 conferences can try to circumvent antitrust laws, but it doesn't
VTHokie2000 01/20/25 02:58 PM ET
So, you are saying the antitrust may not deter the P2?
RandomAsianGuy 01/20/25 03:10 PM ET
Not from trying, but it doesn’t mean they’ll ultimately keep it, the courts
Stech 01/20/25 03:57 PM ET
Exactly. In this case the end is all that matters.**
VTHokie2000 01/20/25 03:59 PM ET
2 vs. 3 in the Championship Game? That will do wonders for attendance and
Maroon Baboon 01/19/25 10:33 PM ET
Honestly, I am encouraged that he’s reaching for innovative solutions
lawhokie 01/20/25 11:07 AM ET
IMHO, he’s worried about losing his job, if only 1 ACC team makes PO, fired
Stech 01/20/25 01:57 PM ET
There are only a limited number of answers to your question
