If TAMU wants to get away from Texas and get under Texas' skin, then a move

to the Big Ten would probably be a better way to accomplish that goal. It would be a lateral move since we are now living in a P2 world. Whereas moving to the ACC would in some ways feel like a step down even if the conference does remain intact as it is now. Plus, I am not sure adding TAMU would help the ACC achieve equal power conference status to the Big Ten and SEC. Right now, it appears to me that the ACC and Big XII are in a similar place as the Big East was during the BCS Era before the conference lost its power conference status.
