If money is the only motivation now, then I suspect at some point a

conference may decide to get a sponsor to provide the "prize money" to be divided up among the winning team in the CCG. If the winning team gets to divide up $5M among the players and the winning school gets $5M, then that could provide enough motivation to make the game meaningful again.
