That's not true. It's all about ratings.

Generally, football games gets he best ratings. But if a football game gets 10 million viewers and a basketball game gets 10 million viewers, then those two games have the exact same value to the broadcaster. Because advertisement rates are linked to ratings. ESPN owns the rights to all ACC sports, not just football games. So all broadcast games have some value, which is roughly proportional to the number of viewers. So to get a true measure of value of any individual school, you must add up all viewers across all sports broadcasts, not just football. ** Edited by tarheelblue at 2/26/2023, 3:48:24 PM
