I'm not foreclosing other options

My view is that there are probably no more than three to seven schools not named Notre Dame that have a chance at a ticket to the SEC or B1G, that about half of them are out west, in a region those conferences don't have covered, and that Tech's chances of getting one of the few slots available for eastern or midwestern schools is probably less than 50/50 given that Clemson, FSU and UNC are all available. The smart play is, as you say, to explore all options. The second best option (given that the B1G is option 1 and the SEC is option 1A) is a new conference with the best remaining brands, not a watered down ACC that will likely include BC, Syracuse, Wake, Duke and schools like UCF that the high and mighty of the ACC would have laughed at 15 years ago.

Tech's best strategy is to help shape an entirely new conference

ACC can be tier 2 by itself. No need to join with other remnants **

The ACC might be the tallest midget

My dream conference would never happen but here is my 16 team conference

What I like about this idea is that it attacks the P2's weakness.
Maroon Baboon 07/12/22 04:27 PM ET
Those 16 would make for a solid football conference.

Great post. Assuming the SEC/B1G do not add anyone, you end up with 48-55
