I guess the PAC technically survived as a conference,

but lost 10 of their 12 members and their ESPN TV contract. They have a scheduling agreement, but it is with a G5 conference. The PAC is still here in name only as their TV partners, coaches, players, donors, etc. abandon the sinking ship. I felt better about the ACC’s future before the revelation of the ESPN’s unilateral contract option and the FSU and Clemson’s lawsuits. Even the most optimistic person has to be somewhat concerned that ESPN hasn’t announced or even made known their desire to extend the ACC contract as the February 2025 deadline fast approaches. Two of the biggest factors in conference realignment at this time and not often acknowledged are the unfavorable media rights market and ESPN’s dwindling profitability. It’s possible that the ACC can survive even if members start leaving just like the PAC did, but schools that have options won’t hang around if the ESPN contract is not extended or reduced and be part of whatever the conference then becomes. Fans should be thankful that there is a greater chance than not that VT will have options.

I don’t see why the ACC can’t survive if B12 lost 5 top football schools.

I don't consider the PAC surviving, I do consider the B12 surviving with 5

Difference is that the Big 12 added really good schools, power worthy.

ESPN has lost the B1G and B12 🏀, so they have room for tier 2 too.

The Big 12 reached a six-year extension with ESPN and Fox in October 2022.
