There also is no evidence that the composition clause was ever removed

from the ESPN contract. We know that it was there is 2011 because of widespread reporting and the fact that it was used to renegotiation the ESPN contract along with extending it. The contract was again renegotiated in 2016 (a fatal flaw by the way) and extended until 2027 with ESPN having an unilateral option to extend it to 2036 or not (“not” now seemingly the chalk). IMO the composition clause and the GOR address different issues. The composition clause provides ESPN with the legal remedy to address changes in conference membership. Also, when UConn left the AAC to rejoined the Big East back in 2020, the composition clause was mentioned numerous times along with an ESPN spokesperson commenting that this clause was standard in all ESPN contracts. Finally, there is no denying that TJ from “College Football Addiction” is an FSU homer, but he is also well connected to the FSU athletic department. The public might not know what is in the ESPN contract, but people at FSU know and I don’t think that it is a coincidence that TJ is now obsessively talking about it on his YouTube channel.

did the AAC have a GOR in their 2019 contract?
daveinop 04/13/24 06:20 PM ET
The GOR is a 4 page legal agreement between the conference and its members.
WBGV 04/14/24 10:00 AM ET
