If FSU and Clemson leave their 2024 schedules will be bare

Clemson will play UGA(Atlanta), App State, @FSU, Citadel, and USCe. FSU will play Memphis, Clemson, Charleston Southern, UF, and maybe @ND. If they bolt by this summer, then the ACC is not obligated to provide 7 games for them, and they are then on their own. They will be so desperate to put together a schedule that they will pay about anything to get a team to play them. I'm sure the sponsorships that those 2 have at their stadiums and arenas call for a certain level of teams to play there or they don't have to pay as much for that sponsorship. I doubt the fans will flock to see 4-5 games against FCS or G5 level teams which means that they won't be having the concession sales they usually do. Top it off with the TV networks terrified of broadcasting the games because of the question of copyright ownership (the ACC does own the copyrights until 2036 season), and Clemson and FSU are going to have a very difficult financial issue for the next few years.

I posted about the composition clause on this board last year.

The SBJ article is 2011 & nothing suggests that artifact still exists

There also is no evidence that the composition clause was ever removed
WBGV 04/13/24 10:11 AM ET
did the AAC have a GOR in their 2019 contract?
daveinop 04/13/24 06:20 PM ET
The GOR is a 4 page legal agreement between the conference and its members.
WBGV 04/14/24 10:00 AM ET
let's assume for a second that there is a composition clause
