That might work for an expanded Big-12

Since it currently expands from Orlando to Provo, they could add more on both coasts (Wazzou, Oregon State, and whatever remnants are available if the ACC implodes) and just divide it into two sub-conferences - East and West. The champion from each gets an AQ to the playoffs.
