All good points, let me add another angle

The big is clearly a national conference right now considering the vast footprint, coast to coast. The SEC is not quite there yet and they are ESPN's only product. That seems to me to be a tremendous disadvantage to ESPN. So proactively shutting the Big out of the lower Mid Atlantic and Southeast may be more of a driver than we previously thought.
