People right now are obsessing over these huge *reported* numbers from the SEC and B1G and acting like the ACC/B12 contracts at *only* $40 million per school per year is effectively nothing. Meanwhile, some can’t even watch B1G/ESPN games right now (Week 1) because of contract disagreements between Disney/Spectrum/ESPN/FOX/DirecTV or whatever. A breakaway by the top programs is imminent. Conferences serve no need anymore. It’s every program for themselves, ala Notre Dame. Moving forward, programs will need to negotiate their own media deals on their own merits, not their neighbor’s (hi Vanderbilt and Rutgers).
