Extremely long shot as a partial member a la Notre Dame...
Could USC (and, by extension, Michigan) get a ND-like deal from Netflix or another media partner for its football games as an independent? Bringing the rest of CA into the ACC Network as in-state subscribers would be pretty lucrative (right now it's just Bay Area for Cal and Stanford). ESPN would probably much prefer them in the ACC for that reason. Imagine the ACC goes back to eight conference games with two OOC games vs P4 opponents and then had a 5-game scheduling deal with USC and Michigan (in addition to Stanford). Remember, the SEC is also now requiring one P4 OOC game each season (most already played one). I also bet USC could get a game or two vs one of their old friends from the four corners or BYU each year. The SEC and ESPN would probably love to stick it to the Big Ten and their media partners and match the top SEC brands up OOC vs USC, ND and Michigan and leave the Big Ten in a bind.
USC schedule would look something like this:
1. ND
2. Michigan
3. Stanford
4. Cal
5. ACC
6. ACC
7. ACC
8. Big 12
9. SEC
10. SEC/Big 12
11. G5
12. G5
