Interesting you only mentioned ACC league related events

The idea of joined at the hip is less about the ACC or even sports and more the only (to them) public Ivys in the south. Its an only sibling thing in academics, research etc. And for sure UNC prostituted that lofty standard for ball players but still, it is not the athletes who make this bond. I would opine that the basis for this joining at the hip goes back to when they visited each other, their "servants" held the horses until they were ready to return. Those ties run way deeper than athletics.
