everyone wants to move to mega conferences, but there is no evidence they

will actually work long term. I would not be surprised to see the SEC and Big 10 become mega conferences and then one day split into smaller conferences again. It will be hard to keep that many schools happy, especially with that many elite schools under one roof. Teams that were once top 2-3 in their conference will find themselves middle of the pack and fighting to just finish 5th or 6th - some won't be happy with that. Will Texas be happy being overshadowed by so many other schools? Will Texam A&M be happy in the SEC with Texas? Will Florida be happy with so many elite schools ahead of them and no realistic path to football relevance? Will PSU be happy with a conference that is focusing more and more westward while their geographical buddies are Maryland and Rutgers? Will other Big 10 schools get tired of a Atlantic to Pacific conference travel schedule? So many opportunites for something to go wrong, eventually it will break.

My ideal scenario, but it won't happen.

You're sniffing glue. UT and UF will NEVER leave the SEC.

Why not? If the conference could bring in equivalent money, then money

I doubt UF and UT would ever entertain leaving the SEC

Would be better than the current situation, but still not good enough

Another possibility is we’ve reached “peak football.” Some high schools

We may be the exception out here in Katy, TX - apologies if I repeat

That’s correct. Katy’s an exception. **

NE to South migration is the demographic the MAG7 is chasing, IMO.
