I think the future state is obvious, but many will resist

The P2 problem, the playoff problem, and the bowl problem all can be solved with a single solution. FBS level still exists but operates with three groupings (P2, P345, G5) and has three separate playoffs. - all three groups can still schedule each other for OOC games - all three groups exist for football only. Let conferences still exist for everything else. - playoffs for the P345 and the G5 use/replace the existing bowl games - conf champ games get replaced by play-in games This should eliminate opt outs since the bowls would become playoffs. And it should actually increase the value of games for the media since there are multiple playoff grouping and national titles at stake. And the best part is that more fans can get engaged because more teams would have a shot at a national title (and further increasing the media value). ND would never have to join a conference for football because the entire P2 would basically be independent, or only semi organized like the NFL. ** Edited by HokieAl at 12/10/2025, 3:36:53 PM
