Now that everybody will be on equal ground with 9 conf games, the auto bids are no longer as critical. They are getting closer to my proposal from this summer. And if everything is on the table now (more teams, no conf title games, etc.) then it opens up one of my more extreme scenarios that I never posted. In an attempt to be creative, I looked at the option of eliminating just the G6 conference champ games. What that opens up is the chance to have a mini-playoff to earn the way into the big dance. And we could even throw ND into that mix to make them play an extra game (if we keep the P4 conf title games). You can see below how this could play out over two rounds and result in two playoff spots for the G6+ND. Or we could leave ND out of it and one of the G6 conferences gets two teams in their mini playoff (would have to base it on rankings).
