In the entire history of College Football
we have had Universities that make, spend, and cheat more than other universities. it's been like that since the beginning of time.
This idea that somehow revenue should be even, or that out respective schools should be making as much money as other blue bloods or brands is beyond my comprehension. There already is uneven distribution in the college ranks. Always have, and always will be.
What is different, is that the cheating is now legal.
Texas, by far, always made more money than K-State (perfect example), but K-State always competed with them on the field and for conference championships. Texas left the conference to make even more money - for gods sake, it's the American way.
The issue with schools and fans, is that to compete "legally", and the players getting paid, they too will have to come up with the revenue that the blue bloods have always enjoyed. Add in NIL, and the schools with the most money will be able to buy the best players.
It's that last sentence that needs to be addressed. K-State(perfect example) didn't need Texas type revenue in the past to compete with Texas. Today???? I'm not sure one can make the same argument. they don't have to be as rich as Texas, but in order to compete, they have to be in the same neighborhood of player salaries.
It seems we all want to be in the P2 so media money can make up the difference. Lucky to be a Purdue? Maybe, but if anyone here thinks for one solitary second that a Purdue will ever make as much money as an Ohio State, or anyone added to the BIG in the future, I've got some bad news for you - it's not going to happen.
We could all make the same media money in FBS, but OSU, ND, USC, Bama, and all the other blue bloods will always get more revenue. It's just reality.
The best that a K-State(perfect example) can hope for, is a hard salary cap with no cheating. I say that, because even if they were added to the SEC tomorrow, they still would not be able to compete with Texas money.
Let the rich get richer, because they have always had coat strings, and is why a K-State is on the same field. Find a way however, to not let those riches be the sole driver in being competitive or not.
