Between the Josh Pate tweet, the Illinois AD's comment about having to be on guard about trying to stay above the red line in the future, and the fact that someone reigned him in on his FSU to the B1G prediction, he was upset. Part of this is because he couldn't figure out what is happening, part of this was because of the Illinois AD's comment that there might actually be schools in the B1G that aren't going to make the cut (including his beloved Golden Gophers). And lastly, I think he FINALLY sees that this whole path that he's been reporting on for years as if it itself is sport, is actually highly destructive of the great game we all grew up loving.
