With so many college football rumors flying around so far in 2024, trying to distinguish who might go where has been next to impossible. B1G, SEC, Big XII, ACC, PAC2 (Mountain West additions) - nobody knows. I am convinced that the networks control most of those decisions through money. Once the network approval is made, then the conferences commissioner/members make the final call. I have a very close, longtime friend who works in the NC Governor's Office. He was the one who told me back in January that UNC and NC State had an approval from the SEC. I took it (like all sources) with a grain of salt. Then it was about a few weeks later that the BOG stepped in to enact a mutiny and take over decision making. The timing was either weird or improbable. I will stick to a prediction that UNC and NC State are a package deal. It's the only way to pull the Tar Heels out against state government wishes. But I'm not all that move is certain. The new vote to make sure UNC and NC State continue to play each other was not needed because they already do...unless the two schools leave. That was the clue. That is when my same friend told me the BOG already knows the outcome of the ACC moving parts with other members.
