Don’t Sleep on SMU. They are wealthy and motivated. So I don’t believe that adding these schools was any kind of philanthropic gesture. If the conference implodes, which will be decided soon, I’m not sure what to think about this possibility. It is more likely that FSU and CU wind up in the B1G, and the SEC is left to decide if they want to pick up UNC with NCSU thrown in or not. I do think that VT is perhaps their most compelling addition if FSU and CU are off the board, culturally and economically. Do we tie our fate to UVa in that scenario? We shall see.
