The contracts are too complex and long termed for a break away

At least in the near term. The consolidated streaming service is interesting because it covers a huge portion of college sports. The only college sport outliers are the part of BIG under CBS, ND under NBC, and part of the NCAA tournament under CBS. There is still a lot of complexity and competition across the pro sports. But for college sports, this new proposed streaming will cover >80% of the schools out there. So from a media perspective, they almost have what they want for a captive audience. I think the labor laws will be the tipping point for whatever happens next around the P2. If all schools (public and private) are considered to have athletes as employees then it likely leads to a tiered model in the general spirit of what the NCAA proposed recently. Let schools decide what level of spending they want to compete at. Then football contracts get separated out from general conference contracts but the conferences themselves continue to exist.
