Anyone here a fan of the podcast The Rest is History???
British friend turned me on to it. The narrators are very good. They research various historical topics and do multi part series on each. They go into the backgrounds of the characters before moving into the main topics
So far I’ve completed:
The Rise of the Ayatollah in Iran
Hannibal and his March over the Alps and Battles With the Romans
The Romans Reversal and Defeat of Carthage
Jack the Ripper
The Rolling Stones
Custer and Little Big Horn (my favorite)
The Romans Conquest of Britain
And a few more.
They are very entertaining. And hopefully accurate. Which I think they are.

Super detailed by narrator/creator (british guy, Andrew Hickey)...It will take him years to complete if he sticks with it...the podcast is currently in the 1968-1969 time frame

With era-specific hosts and pod titles. The Ancients, Gone Medieval, US History Hit. . And they typically have outside experts discuss the topic. Some are great but some can come across like a dry college seminar. US History Hit has had some great discussions on the Civil and Revolutionary Wars recently having one on the Vicksburg campaigns for example.
Dan Snow did an excellent podcast on tracking D-Day activities in real time back in Dec. 2024

But Hardcore History is long and multiple episodes on one topic. Very detailed. But the WWI and Hitler invasion of Russia (Stalingrad) series are epic.
Also the rise of the Japanese Empire through WWII, but there many great episodes in the Hardcore library.
