I guess, I mean it really went away after it was bought out...
by Stroh's or whoevre it was back in the 80s. after that it's really just legal fiction, ie all the trademarks etc owned by a comglomerate. I can't say I've seen a can of Shlitz in a long, long time. I liked it, had a few but formula changed or something and was pretty crappy, moved on. So yeah, it's been dragged along for 50 years now, this is just a formality. PS got curious, AI pulled this up: The 1970s Cost-Cutting: Facing intense competition and rising ingredient costs, management (ie, Schlitz) altered the recipe in the early 1970s. They replaced traditional barley malt with cheaper ingredients like corn syrup, and used chemical additives (silica gel) to keep the beer from clouding up after removing natural aging processes. replaced traditional barley malt with...corn syrup wtf? So yeah, that's when it really "ended" although apparently Pabst brought back the original formula in some form in 2008. sounds like PR though. Heck, they even brought down Stroh's which was semil popular at VT when I was there back in the 70s. ** Edited by `lag at 5/20/2026, 10:01:45 AM ** Edited by `lag at 5/20/2026, 12:32:29 PM

Fun fact: Glyohosate (Roundup) is a common crop dessicant.
Nothing like eating bread made with wheat soaked in weed killer.
