TMI post. Let’s talk maggots.
25 years and for the first time our outdoor trash can had maggots. Nasty, indestructible creatures. No bug spray kills them. They were swimming in Raid and pretty much mocking me. No effect. I tried a diluted bleach solution. We’ll see if it works. I was hoping it would kill on contact. But it didn’t. I like summer. But I’ll say this for winter: it keeps the insects at bay.

I had that issue. Washed out the can so they drained onto
the driveway when the temp was 90 degrees. Fried them.

I just went through this. Find a spray with permethrin as the ingredient.
I can't recall which brand I used, I think it was labeled as a mosquito killer. Regardless, it worked great. Salt worked, just really slowly.

Lot's of options on Amazon, I recommend getting the concentrate...
If you have a lot of bug issues around the house, dogs (NO CATS), garden... Stuff is magic. I get a 16oz bottle every year and use it on all of the above. It does have a bit of odor to it but fades in a day or two. Get a garden sprayer and mix up a gallon at a time. Same stuff they use for termite treatment except in a much higher dose for initial treatment. I spray it on my camping clothes and my tent. Mosquitoes land and will very quickly start to twitch. On clothing it will last about 5 washings and still be effective. Very low toxicity to humans and dogs (I spray them too when they get into a bunch of ticks, can also make a flea dip) however very toxic to cats for some reason. Our local feed & seed sells an 8oz bottle for about $10 and will make several gallons.

I say you take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the
only way to be sure.

Same. Bleach, no. Bugspray, no. Nuke from space? TBD.

Killing giant bugs is dangerous, but worth it for the comradery.
