Good news and bad news: kitchen faucet is leaking
It's leaking from the hose that connects to the spray nozzle, where it pulls out. Thought it was just the O-ring at the connector, but a new O-ring didn't fix it. Pulled the hose out again and finally discovered the source of the leak is where the metal breaded hose is clamped, so no permanent repair is possible on my end. I have to replace the hose. Checked with the manufacturer, and that item is unavailable. Don't understand, since it's the exact same hose part number for every pull out kitchen faucet they've made in the last 20+ years. Did a part number search and found it on Amazon. I looked at the company video on swapping it out, and it's much easier than expected...a 10 minute job?

Pro Tip: before installing the new hose prepare a dilute Clorox solution
and run it through the hose to eliminate possible bacteria. I replaced a hose and about a week later noticed that the water coming out of the sprayer reeked. Did a google search and found out that I wasn’t the only one that had the problem. So I got to install the hose twice. You would think running hot water through the hose would solve the smell problem but it didn’t.

Thanks! I'll do that.
Hadn't even thought about that...I was just going to run water through it for a minute or so...

And the good news?

Simple repair, and not that expensive.

Under normal conditions the recommendation usually
is “sell the house”. One day it’s the leaky sink hose and the next day there’s black mold everywhere. Sad.

That's close. Replaced the faucet and sold the house:)

I checked under the counter, and thankfully the leak has been contained...
...to dripping into the sink. I need to fix this before it does surprise me below.

Why is your sink under the counter? In inspector school we were taught
sinks were up top. Have they changed all that on me?

Not this time. It either works (without leaking) or it doesn't
If it leaks, I'll return it for a replacement. I'll check for leaks before attaching the weight, just to save me a step if I have to pull it off.
